A typing test measures an job applicant's typing speed. Nearly every office job has a typing speed minimum requirement, and proof of proficiency such as a typing certification. A paragraph of text is provided, and a timer measures the amount of time the applicant takes to complete the exercise. Typing speed is calculated by subtracting errors from the Words Per Minute that are typed, yielding the adjusted speed. Accuracy is important! No employer wants mis-typed or misspelt correspondence. Passing a typing test on-site is often required, although many HR departments will accept certification documents issued by recognized websites (you have to ask them beforehand). You can try the typing test right here!
